The merger of the large domestic law firms with other domestic law firms and in some instances with even larger international law firms comes at a cost.
This merger activity has brought about much instability. The cost to those firms at least initially must be significant. Partners who do not fit the culture of the new firm or who are not performing at a level acceptable to the new firm, either leave of their own volition, are forced to leave or are poached by other firms. Time will tell but the resulting instability cannot contribute to a harmonious working environment and one suspects that the interests of clients are diminished in the process
